Madden 20 Championship Series: Serious Moe Wins Classic Title For His Second Championship

The first event in the Madden 20 Championship Series has officially concluded. After hundreds of competitors were whittled down to just a few over several days, one gamer stood taller than the rest. Zack “Serious Moe” Lane is the Madden 20 Classic champion, capturing the second title belt in his impressive gaming career. Here’s the latest on how the first tournament played out from Arlington, Texas.

Serious Moe defeats Henry to win Classic title

This year’s Madden Classic featured 500 entrants in a double-elimination style tournament. It officially kicked off on Friday, August 30, and was down to the top 256 entrants by Saturday. As of Sunday, there were just six entrants left in a bracket to determine who would compete for the title. Amongst the final six were former champion Young Kiv along with Serious Moe, Henry, and Madden Challenge 2017 Champion BeastModeMac.

The Classic finals featured Serious Moe battling Henry for the championship. It was a competitive battle too, as the 16-year-old Henry handed Moe his first and only loss of the tournament. That set up a dramatic final game with the winner taking the championship.

Moe ultimately took the second game 32-29 to claim the title. In addition to the title, he received $35,000 as the top prize money for all entrants as well as 1,000 MCS points and a chance to compete in the Madden Bowl. With the win, Serious Moe also won the second Madden Classic title belt in his career. Moe was the 2016 Madden Challenge Champion as well.

Serious Moe continues forth in Madden 20 Championship Series

Also amongst the six remaining competitors on the final day of action was former Madden Bowl champion and star competitor Young Kiv. He was amongst the opponents that Serious Moe defeated on his path towards this year’s Classic title. The two spoke about having to face each other during this year’s first Championship Series tournament.

The three days of tournament action live-streamed on various platforms including EA Madden Twitch. Madden 20 gamers viewing the stream with their Twitch and EA accounts connected also received Twitch Drop Packs in the game as rewards throughout the tournament.

The next event for the Madden 20 Championship Series schedule is the Madden 20 Club Championship beginning on December 18, with the Madden 20 Challenge set to take place in January of 2020. It all culminates with the major championship tournament, the Madden 20 Bowl next April. Serious Moe could very well be amongst the favorites once that arrives.
