On December 9, the 2021 Game Awards took place to highlight some of the recent happenings in the gaming community. It’s a hyped-up award show hosted by Geoff Keigley.
The Game Awards typically show off new world premieres for games and even movies. For example, a new trailer for the next installment of the Sonic franchise was released during this year’s Game Awards.
Let’s discuss what you may have missed at this year’s Game Awards.
2021 Game Awards: Major Announcements
At this year’s Game Awards, more than half of the show consisted of new game announcements that are highly anticipated. Everything from updates to big reveals of new games was announced.
Award shows in the gaming community are fairly common. For example, the 2021 Golden Joystick Awards take place, and gamers can vote for their favorite games to win their deserved awards.
Here are some of the biggest game announcements made that evening, so you know which games you can expect to see in the new year.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Rocksteady’s new Suicide Squad game has been highly anticipated, and the Game Awards featured a sneak peek in gameplay. All we know so far is that the game is set to be released in 2022, and there will be four playable characters:
- Harley Quinn
- Captain Boomerang
- Deadshot
- King Shark
The game’s official website has trailers if you’re interested in seeing what the new game might have to offer.
Star Wars: Eclipse
Quantic Dream is currently developing Star Wars: Eclipse for those looking for an action-packed adventure game. It’s going to provide a “multiple-character branching narrative game.” Set in the High Republic era, but there are few details about the gameplay.

Gamers will need to wait a little longer for Alan Wake 2, as it’s set to be released in 2023. However, this game is also highly anticipated because it’s been ten years since the last Alan Wake game. The trailer features a major jump scare that only shows how the game will be a survivor horror game. The new game will be available in 2023 on PS5, Windows PC and the Xbox Series X.
