We know what you’re thinking, Code Vein delayed to 2019? Say it isn’t so? Unfortunately, we’re sad to say that the RPG from Bandai Namco will not be making an appearance this year due to the publisher wanting to take the time to perfect the game. It was also said that, because of the game’s delay, that Code Vein will not be a part of Gamescom 2018 any longer, meaning those who wanted to play the game in Germany will be missing out this time.
This news comes from Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s Vice President of Marketing Eric Hartness, who released the statement detailing the reason why the game got delayed as well as fan-reaction.
The statement reads like so:
“CODE VEIN has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months. Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of CODE VEIN to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one.”
While this is no doubt disappointing to gamers who were hyped about the game coming out in September, the delay could actually help the game’s reception immensely. A lot of games are coming out near the end of this year such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2, with both games already having a large fanbase whereas Code Vein is an entirely new game. The delay may in fact only increase the game’s popularity depending on when it is released next year.
Of course, we’re still rather sad that we’ll have to wait a little longer for some anime Dark Souls in our lives but if that’s what Bandai Namco needs to make a good game a great one, we’re not going to complain.
