SaGa: Scarlet Grace Shows Off Main Characters and Enhanced Combat in New Trailer

Square Enix has released a new trailer for SaGa: Scarlet Grace that showcases its main characters and enhanced combat. Scarlet Grace is the 12th main entry in the RPG series that once started as Final Fantasy Legend in the West and has been around for nearly 30 years. The game originally released exclusively in Japan on PlayStation Vita, but will be making its way to other systems in Japan next month.

Fans fret not, as SaGa: Scarlet Grace is confirmed to have an English version in the works. Considering its predecessor, Romancing SaGa 3, recently released in the West, we suspect that this game will follow. Unfortunately, we doubt it will for Vita. Instead, we will most likely get this enhanced version that is set to release on PS4, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android on August 2nd.

Like we mentioned, SaGa: Scarlet Grace is an enhanced version of the Vita title with voice acting, improved battle systems, events, and map movement. This version of the game will make for a smoother experience for JRPG fans. The new trailer seen above showcases some of those improvements, especially with the characters and the new voice acting.

SaGa: Scarlet Grace initially released exclusively on Vita in Japan on December 15th, 2016. The original game featured four different protagonists that players could choose to play as, each with their own separate scenarios. The narrative is unique in that it is very non-linear. There are various events spread out across the world map like battles and speaking with NPC’s.

Players are able to complete those events in whatever order they’d like or ignore them entirely. How the player chooses to approach these events on the world map affects the overall narrative and future events. While we wait for a Western release date, check out other Square Enix RPG’s like Octopath Traveler and Dragon Quest XI.
