It’s only been days since Cory Barlog said that there was one final undiscovered God of War Easter egg. At the time, the studio unveiled a pre-release comic which was hinted to be a major clue as to the Easter egg’s location. Now, fans believe that they may have found it. The Easter egg in question teases a final revelation which doesn’t come until the game’s final moments.
The Final God of War Easter Egg?
Ever since the release of God of War, determined fans have been combing the new Norse world for Easter eggs and hidden secrets. One group was able to find a secret item cache by translating runes on an item in the game’s collector’s edition; since then, more fans have been painstakingly translating the runes which appear in the game. Although these translations have revealed some interesting things about the game’s characters and story, they haven’t revealed any more Easter eggs. Until now, that is.
When Santa Monica Studios released “The Hunt” comic; a concept art storyboard which was one of the game’s earliest pieces of artwork, a senior artist teased that it was a clue to the location of the final undiscovered Easter egg. Fans quickly guessed that the location was Kratos and Atreus’ home, and began scouring the place for clues. Now, it seems that they may have found it. Convening on Reddit, fans spotted four runes carved onto beams inside the house. Translated and arranged correctly, the runes spell out the name, “Loki”.
When Joe Kennedy, the artist who hinted that “The Hunt” was a clue, was questioned by fans on Discord about the discovery, he was unable to give a clear answer. He stated that fans will “need to hear it from Cory,” the game’s director, to know for sure. Cory Barlog is likely to confirm whether the discovery is indeed the final Easter egg or not soon. He hasn’t done so yet, however.
