A recent announcement by Electronic Arts and Crytek said that Crysis would not have an online multiplayer mode anymore. The announcement was made through the official Crysis Facebook Page. The reason for this is the lack of players playing the mode.
Electronic Arts and Crytek announced the shutdown of the multiplayer mode of the first Crysis title. They said that they could not keep the service up because there are not enough players online. The mode will no longer be available from October 11, 2018. The official Crysis Facebook Page posted the following:
“Online multiplayer will no longer be available from October 11, 2018. We don’t have the required number of players to keep up the service and ensure all our players have great online experience. We appreciate your support and hope you continue enjoying our single-player campaign.”
The first Crysis title of Crytek’s popular franchise has been around for almost eleven years now. Since then, there have been new games added to the franchise. It is only natural for players to stop playing the first Crysis when there are more recent Crysis titles released and available for them to play.
However, Crysis’ online multiplayer was an enjoyable mode when the game was still fresh. Something was very exciting about the way players could interact with the environment around them while playing along with other gamers. Additionally, the Power Struggle mode was giving players the opportunity to explore the whole Crysis experience and everything that came with it.
Unfortunately, when there are not enough players to form the multiplayer mode of Crysis, there is no reason for it to be available. As it stands, players who are still playing the game have to wait for minutes until a full party is assembled. At least going forward they can choose something else to explore in Crysis.
