For Honor’s latest seasonal update, titled Storm and Fury, is now live. Included in the update are major reworks for two of the game’s more venerable heroes, a brand new map, and some significant changes for the game’s ranked play system.
According to this dedicated Storm and Fury page on the For Honor website, the update marks the beginning of the game’s seventh season, and a new season means new and reworked elements to play around with. Sadly, the Storm and Fury update doesn’t contain any new playable heroes (Ubisoft is saving those for this October’s Marching Fire expansion), but it does introduce some major reworks for the Warden and Valkyrie heroes.
The Warden has always been a good hero pick for newer players, but he tended to underperform in high-level play where his simple-to-learn but also very basic moveset could be easily shut down by more experienced opponents. As for the Valkyrie, the overall risk vs. reward nature of her fighting style tended to favor the risk a little more than the reward, and she also struggled to reliably take down opponents in 1v1 engagements. With Storm and Fury, Ubisoft has taken measures to address all of the above weaknesses by tweaking the speed and damage of certain attacks, altering how specific special attacks function, and in some cases even adding in entire new attack chains and moves.
Along with utilizing the reworked Warden and Valkyrie, For Honor players can now fight on the brand new Secluded Keep map and earn their spot in two new ranked play division tiers (Master and Grand Master). Players can also participate in ranked duels even when a ranked tournament isn’t active, scavenge new legendary gear, and gain 10 more reputation levels for each hero class (raising the reputation cap for each class from 50 to 60).
If you decide to hop into For Honor and give the Storm and Fury update a go, you’ll be happy to hear that the game’s cosmetics collection system is still intact. Also, if you prefer fighting AI bot opponents, be on the lookout for a very special Raider bot.
