Watch the New Trailer for Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Dreaming City Endgame Region

Even though Bungie is working hard to keep its secrets under wraps, we already know a fair bit about the Dreaming City, the massive and beautiful endgame region that will be included in Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion. Now, Bungie has gone ahead and released an epic new trailer for the Dreaming City which teases new details for both the region’s story narrative and gameplay features.

Petra Venj will guide players into the Dreaming City.

One of the first things the trailer does is confirm a plot point we pretty much already knew: players who venture into the Dreaming City will get to team up with an old friend, Petra Venj, the Awoken Corsair who first appeared in the original Destiny and who is now serving as acting queen of the Reef in the absence of Mara Sov. Petra’s narration during the trailer makes it clear that some unknown evil has infested the Dreaming City, and it will be up to players to root out said evil and stop it for good.

It’s clear from the trailer’s footage that the Dreaming City will provide plenty of new challenges for both solo and group-oriented players, and naturally there will be a whole repertoire of new and unique loot to earn along the way. The trailer also shows glimpses of a new gameplay activity called The Blind Well, which looks like it will function in a similar manner as the Court of Oryx and Archon’s Forge activities from the original Destiny (i.e. as a sort of open-world PvE horde mode that can be manually triggered by players).

The Dreaming City is also where Forsaken players will be able to attempt the expansion’s brand new raid experience, and Petra warns that those who are brave enough to venture into the city’s depths will have to confront the massive source of the darkness that infests the region. Of course, thanks to a few previously shared teases from Bungie, we already have some idea of just who the Dreaming City’s final raid boss might be.

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion is set to launch in just a few short weeks on September 4.
