If you want proof that Bungie’s Destiny franchise attracts a wide gamut of different players, you need look no further than Fibby “FIBBOB” Kinney, a retired writer who also happens to be 81 years old and who has been spending his retirement years blasting alien threats in Destiny 2. One of Kinney’s final goals for Destiny 2’s first year was to finish the Leviathan raid before the launch of next month’s Forsaken expansion, and thanks to a group of extremely helpful raiders, he managed to get his wish.
When Kinney posted about his desire to complete the Leviathan raid (a task when even the game’s younger players can oftentimes struggle with) over on a Destiny Facebook group page, his post caught the attention of a fellow player who goes by the handle PXG_3 and who also happens to be an experienced Destiny 2 raider. PXG_3 recruited a few friends to come help, and together they and Kinney managed to not only finish the Leviathan raid, but they also went on to guide Kinney through both of Destiny 2’s raid lairs and even helped him complete the raid-specific questline to unlock the Legend of Acrius Exotic shotgun.
PXG_3 and the rest of his raiding team were blown away not only by how generous, polite, and sociable Kinney was, but also by how skilled of a Destiny 2 player he proved to be. And of course Kinney, being the avid writer that he is, went ahead and penned a heartfelt narrative recounting of his adventures with PXG_3 which you can read in full here.
