Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Delayed to 2019, PlayStation Vita Version Canceled

Sorry, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night fans, we have a couple of unfortunate announcements to share with you. The highly anticipated Castlevania successor has been officially delayed to 2019 in a blog post on the official Kickstarter page for the game. This isn’t the only bad news, though, as the PlayStation Vita version has been completely canceled by publisher 505 Games.

This was all revealed in the latest Kickstarter development update number 72. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was originally still set to release sometime before the end of this year but it will now release in 2019. We have no new release window in 2019 for when to expect the game. The reason behind this is to “raise the quality level” of the title after the feedback players gave from the Beta Backer Demo.

That isn’t the end of the unfortunate news for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, though. Anyone who backed or was looking forward to the title on PlayStation Vita will have to pick a different platform to play it on now. The reasoning behind this largely has to do with Sony deciding to discontinue the Vita.

Anyone who already ordered the Vita version will have the chance to get a refund or switch to another platform like the also portable Switch version. If you are affected by this, you should be receiving an email from Fangamer in the near future with instructions on what to do next.

If you aren’t aware of what Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is, it is a spiritual successor to the Castlevania series led by its series producer Koji Igarashi. Though the Vita version is now canceled, the delayed game will still be coming to PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch when it releases sometime next year. Stay tuned for more info on this title.
