Destiny 2 Redditor Will Host a 24-Hour Forsaken Livestream to Support Cancer Research

With the launch of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion being a mere two weeks away, one member of the game’s Reddit community has decided to host a 24-hour Forsaken livestream in which they’ll marathon-play the expansion in order to raise money for the UK-based cancer research and support organization Macmillan Cancer Support.

Forsaken will be used for a good cause.

In his Reddit post, user foxy_moustache explained how research and work conducted by Macmillan has a very personal meaning to him, and he wants to use the launch of Forsaken as a way to pay it forward for others whose lives may have been affected by cancer:

“Last year, my grandad lost his battle with cancer, Macmillan were there at the end to make sure his last days were comfortable. He passed in a warm hospice not alone, and Macmillan were there again to support my family through the tough times afterwards.

I want to do my bit for such a fantastic group, so on the 5th September I will play Forsaken for 24 hours straight to raise money for the cause (because running with my actual legs would result in me having some form of death).”

At the end of his post, foxy_moustache encouraged fellow readers to spread the word and donate if they are able. According to the Just Giving donations page that foxy_moustache set up ahead of the livestream, just over $180 has been raised towards the $320 goal that was set, which means the donation drive has already passed the halfway mark. When the marathon livestream kicks off on Wednesday, September 5, foxy_moustache will be hosting the stream via Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/michaelplaysdestiny), and naturally all Twitch proceeds will go towards the donation fund as well.

The livestream is set to begin at midnight, British time on September 5, which equates to about 4 p.m. PST (7 p.m. EST) on Tuesday, September 4 for us Yanks across the pond.

The efforts of foxy_moustache are just the latest way in which Destiny 2 is being used as a force for good.
