New Pokemon GO Update Might Be Coming Soon According To Datamined Files

Niantic is on fire with Pokemon GO this summer, adding more content and events than ever before. The fact that the game has now more players than the previous years comes as no surprise since the developing team is committed to bringing new fresh content frequently. A new update might already be in works, given new information granted by dataminers.

Apart from the Yokosuka themed field research which starts tomorrow, Niantic has added a bunch of unannounced content to Pokemon GO. This includes new field research quests, hints for a new version for the game and a few other key notes that are related to the launch of the 4th generation of Pokemon.

Here are the new quests that have appeared in the Pokemon GO files, possibly as a tie-in to Yokosuka Safari Zone:

  • Catch {0} Ralts
  • Catch {0} Beldum
  • Catch {0} Slakoth
  • Earn {0} Candies walking with your buddy
  • Catch a Rattata or Pikachu

According to Pokemon GO Hub, a new string has appeared titled “general_dismiss” in the game files as well. The source suggests that this has something to do with a new version of the game, however, no further information has been given by them or Niantic on the matter.

What we should expect though is a smaller update than the 4th generation one. Spinda has already been added to the game recently, with more leaked or rumored Pokemon, new evolutions or shiny versions which could as well be an update of their own. Whichever the case, all shall be clear as soon as Niantic announces the next update for Pokemon GO.

Speaking of the 4th generation, the new Pokemon GO datamined files have probably some bad news to offer. A string that was related to Sinnoh, possibly hinting the launch of gen 4 has been removed from the game files. This could mean one of two things. Niantic has either teased the launch of the new generation that way and then removed it to add a detailed string before its release or has accidentally leaked it and removed it to avoid confusion.

Until the new update arrives, players have a ton of things to do in Pokemon GO. This year has been an incredible ride for the game in general, with more to come when Niantic releases a PvP duel mode and new Pokemon.
