Fortnite Battle Royale has recently had some very interesting tournaments with amazing prize pools. Summer Skirmish, which is the official tournament done by Epic Games, was probably the most exciting tournament, and it was concluded on September 3. The final night of the tournament was extremely intense, and it also included a low-gravity action.
As many Fortnite players know, the mysterious cube has left two gravity fields on the island. The first field was left by Fatal Fields, and this is where many Summer Skirmish players have faced off at the end of game 4.
The low-gravity field was supposed to make players a bit more bounce, but it malfunctioned and it made players float in the air for an extended period of time. In short, instead of having low gravity in this area, there was no gravity at all.
As you can see in the clip above, many tournament participants were confused by this. With over 20 players left in a small circle, the low-gravity field made things a bit more complicated. Instead of a classic build-off action with gunfights, Fortnite players were floating in the air, shooting at each other and hoping to survive long enough until the circle moves.
The Fortnite Battle Royale developer has confirmed that this was a bug, not a feature, which is why the low-gravity fields had been disabled after this match, allowing players to fight in regular conditions. The tournament host also decided to add an extra game to the final night, extending it to 7 games instead of 6.
After these games, MorgausseTV ended up being victorious, winning $250,000. Ghost Bizzle finished second, trailing MorgaussTV by three points, while Liquid Poach and Nate Hill finished third and fourth respectively.
Epic Games has improved Fortnite Battle Royale’s tournament and made it very interesting. This makes players exciting about what’s next to come, but there is no doubt that the developer has a bit more work left to do.
