Bethesda Denies Delaying The Elder Scrolls: Blades Release Date

As of yet, Bethesda has not announced a firm release date for The Elder Scrolls: Blades; the studio’s upcoming mobile Elder Scrolls title which was unveiled at E3. Until recently, the game’s entry in the App Store had listed a release date of September 7th, although Bethesda had not confirmed whether this was correct. Now, the App Store has altered its entry for Blades to read a release date of December 1st.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades Release Date

This is in fact the second time that the release date has changed. Until recently, the App Store listing had a release date of September 1st. That date was previously changed to September 7th, and now reads December 1st. Bethesda has denied that this is due to the game’s release date being delayed. Rather, the App Store has apparently been using placeholder dates, and Bethesda has not actually informed them of the final release date. The studio stated as much in a recent tweet.

It’s possible that Bethesda may have given Apple the December 1st release date. However, it seems likely that this is just another placeholder. The game is due to release before the end of the year, so setting a placeholder of December gives the company plenty of time to update it once they do know the actual release date. Todd Howard has previously said that he had wanted to release The Elder Scrolls: Blades at E3, as Bethesda once did with Fallout Shelter. Unfortunately, that goal proved to be impossible, as the game simply wasn’t ready in time. At this stage, it’s unknown whether Blades will release before of after Fallout 76, which is due for release on the 14th of November. The studio has already run several playable demos of Blades at gaming events since the announcement at E3; suggesting that the game is close to being ready.
