Fallout 76 is bringing a lot of new things to the Fallout series. Obviously, multiplayer is the biggest new aspect, but there are also major things like Perk Cards and the C.A.M.P. system. In a recent interview with GameInformer, Bethesda VP Pete Hines explained another new feature; Fallout 76 events.
How the Fallout 76 Events Will Work
While Fallout 76 will contain plenty of quests and areas to explore, as well as a significant main story quest, it will also feature events. These appear throughout the setting of West Virginia, and challenge players to complete a specific task within a specific time. “When you get near one,” explains Hines, “it starts broadcasting for help. It’s like a timed multiplayer quest”. These events may bear some resemblance to events in other multiplayer games like Destiny. According to the interview, these events will appear across the world in random places and times. There are also some particular events which occur at a certain place and time. Players will be able to fast travel to an active event, and will be able to take them on solo or with backup. Of course, they are designed primarily for multiplayer play.

Jeff Gardiner, the game’s Project Lead, detailed an example event which players could come across in Fallout 76. “You’ll get a call about robots in distress,” he says; “and you basically have to go and escort them to various locations. If they live in the end, you get a reward. That’s a random [event] that will spawn. Some people will join you or not. The robots have a lot of character, and they’re sort of the levity [of the mission]. You’ll follow along and they’ll make little comments to you”. According to Gardiner, Fallout 76 events will offer a variety of worthwhile rewards. As a result, players will likely want to seek them out during play, especially when they’re with a group.
