Treyarch has dropped a metric ton of details about Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode recently, from how inventory and items work, to the battle royale map’s size, to how many players will be featured in the final release build. That being said, the upcoming mode’s perk system has been a bit of a mystery to fans. However, thanks to Game Informer, we have some fresh intel that outlines how the new Blackout mode handles its perk system.
Unlike Black Ops 4’s traditional multiplayer, the perk system in Blackout will function more like consumable power-ups that gift players temporary boosts rather than permanent upgrades. These consumable perks will be scattered around the map so players will need to find them first, and then manually activate them at the most opportune time.
Some of the perks will be familiar to those who have played the game’s multiplayer, such as Dead Silence and Iron Lungs. For those who aren’t familiar with these perks, Dead Silence allows players to move quieter around the battlefield, while Iron Lungs gifts players with longer breath while swimming and sniping. Looter lets players see the ammo, health and weapon pickups through walls.
Meanwhile, Stimulant gives you an extra 100 health points and Skulker allows players to move more quickly while prone or crouched. Lastly, Paranoia gives users an audible warning when you’re caught between an enemy’s crosshairs, Consumer gives you a 20% boost to the speed of your revives, heals and item usages, while Outlander gives players a speed boost and lessens the damage when players make their way through the ever encroaching shrinking circle that surrounds the map.
