Witcher Netflix Series Showrunner Teases Casting of Another Character

Less than a week has passed since a casting ad from the UK gave fans a look at how Ciri will be portrayed in the upcoming Witcher Netflix series; already, the series’ showrunner seems to have given a hint at who the next character to be cast might be. At present, only one casting decision has been formally announced.

The Next Casting Announcement for the Witcher Netflix Series

Auditions and casting for the Witcher Netflix series began months ago, and fans were treated to the first major announcement quite recently; that Henry Cavill has been cast as Geralt of Rivia. Reportedly, Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner for the series, met with Cavill months ago – long before casting actually began. Hissrich recently gave fans her reasons for why she cast Cavill. Just a few days ago, a casting ad for the role of Ciri appeared online, including a detailed backstory and character analysis. Interestingly, the ad sought a BAME actress (Black, Asian, or minority ethnic). Now, Hissrich has posted a fairly innocuous Tweet which could actually offer fans a clue as to who the next casting announcement might be for.

Hissrich doesn’t mention the character by name, though she does refer to the character as a “she”. The fact that the character is apparently cursing profusely is a major clue, however. There is one character amongst those who were announced as the main cast by Hissrich months ago; one character who has a reputation for having a crude tongue at times. That character is Milva, a character from the original novels who doesn’t appear in the CD Projekt Red games. Milva was a travelling companion of Geralt’s during his search for Ciri in the novels. Of course, there are other characters it could be; Angouleme, perhaps. However, fans seem to be leaning towards Milva as the most likely candidate. When Hissrich announced the main cast some months ago, she described Milva as; “Saucy. Savage. Conciliatory. Commonsense. The-epitome-of-the-novels’-shades-of-grey-who-embodies-unrequited-romance-and-also-unbelievable-strength-and-also-the-skills-to-kill-and-also-the-ability-to-crusade-for-peace-and-also-and-also-and-also.”
