CD Projekt Red Announces Participants for the Upcoming Gwent Open #7 Qualifier

Following on from the recent Gwent Challenger #4 tournament, CD Projekt Red is preparing for the next round of qualifiers; the Gwent Open #7 qualifier tournament. The studio has now released a list of the 100 top Gwent Pro Ladder players who are invited to take part.

Participants Announced for the Gwent Open #7 Qualifier Tournament

This qualifier tournament will be one of the early stages for the next major Gwent tournament. The recent Gwent Challenger #4 pitted eight players against one another. Daniel “Damorquis” Morkisch, from Germany, was the victor in the tournament. Damorquis won around $57,000 of the tournament’s prize pool, and has secured a spot in the Gwent World Masters; the most prestigious Gwent tournament in the world. This tournament is much larger, but it is also just a qualifier. Indeed, some players on the list have already secured places in the next round; “We will contact all participants by e-mail,” explains the update on the official Gwent website; “(with the exception of top 6 players who already secured their spots in the tournament and are not eligible to take part in the Qualifier.)”

94 of the 100 Top Players Will Compete in the Qualifiers

The top 100 Pro Ladder players were chosen according to the rankings at 12 PM CEST on the 31st of August. Those players who have automatically earned a place in the next round are Adzikov, TailBot, kams134, kacper322, Freddybabes, and GameKingAT. Interestingly, both TailBot and GameKingAT were participants in the Gwent Challenger #4 tournament. The pair faced each other in the first round, with TailBot claiming victory but losing in the next round to AretuzaAndyWand.

Several other Challenger competitors also appear in the top 100 list. As a result, they will be eligible to compete for a place in the next round. Namely, Aethr3n, kolemoen, LpHanachan, and proNEO3001; a total of 6 of the 8 Challenger competitors who were ultimately defeated by Damorquis. The next round following the qualifiers will be an 8-participant Gwent Open tournament, and the two finalists of the Open will earn spots in the next Gwent Challenger tournament.
