Destiny 2: How To Unlock The Chaperone Exotic Shotgun

There are plenty of new and returning Exotic weapons to unlock in Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, one of which is a powerful Exotic shotgun called The Chaperone. Unlike some other Exotics which can only be acquired as random loot drops, there is a guaranteed method to add The Chaperone to your arsenal, but you’ll have to put in a little PvP-centric legwork first.

If you’ve been avidly playing Forsaken since its launch, chances are good you’ve already begun the quest to unlock The Chaperone. Whenever you complete a Crucible PvP match, there’s a chance you’ll automatically receive a quest item called ‘Holliday Family History’ (reports suggest the item drops after your very first post-Forsaken Crucible match but that doesn’t appear to always be the case). The item will direct you to speak with Amanda Holliday in the Tower, and she’ll reveal that she’s offering up The Chaperone to any Guardian who can complete a series of Crucible-related tasks.

There are three tasks to complete in sequential order (i.e. you have to finish one task before starting the next one) and they are as follows:

  1. Score 20 shotguns kills in the Crucible – Any shotgun can be used regardless of which weapon slot it’s assigned to but you have to land the killing blow for it to count.
  2. Rack up Arc, Void, and Solar Crucible kills – You’ll be given three separate progress bars to fill, one for each of the three elemental damage types. Scoring a kill with an ability or weapon of the associated element will fill its respective bar up by five percent, but dying will also subtract one percent, which means you have to balance being aggressive and cautious.
  3. Kill 15 enemy players in Gambit – Kills earned both when you’re being invaded and when you’re the invader count towards this goal. Just remember that you have to be the one landing the killing blow for it to count, assists won’t cut it.

Once all three of the above steps are completed, return to Amanda Holliday and she’ll hand over The Chaperone. Be sure to also read about how you can acquire another of the Forsaken expansion’s new Exotic shotguns, the Lord of Wolves, since both it and The Chaperone could prove to be handy in the upcoming Last Wish raid.
