Sometimes you’ve just got to use any opportunity that’s presented to you, right? That’s certainly what Reddit user Mitch3750 thought when he spotted the PS4 Spider-Man proposal that had been implemented in by Insomniac Games after one Tyler Schultz requested the game company do so in an attempt to get his relationship with his girlfriend back on track.
For those who have read our previous article on the story, they’ll have some idea how that particular idea went for Schultz. They’ll also have realized that Schultz sob story was just a cover-up to make up for his poor relationship with his now ex-girlfriend. This news sadly only came to light after Schultz’s ex-girlfriend received a numerous amount of hostility from people online.
For now, it seems that story is done and dusted, but what about for those who are playing Marvel’s Spider-Man and have uncovered the easter egg for themselves? Or for those who know about the origin of the easter egg?
Well, Mitch3750 clearly didn’t mind that the idea wasn’t originally his. In fact, it must have felt like a twist of fate that Schultz’s misfortune led him to propose in a way that wasn’t conventional in the slightest. Bah, who said that romance was dead?
proposed to my gf using this easter egg (her name is also maddie) [she said yes!!!] from SpidermanPS4
Personally speaking, I’m not really a big fan of public proposals, but considering that this one had little to do with publicity and more to do with Mitch seeing an opportunity and taking it, I’ll allow it. Though we do wonder whether Mitch’s girlfriend knows the origin story behind this, or if like Schultz ex-girlfriend, she’s been kept in the dark too.
If there’s one thing that readers can take away from this, it’s that while there are more than a few bad eggs in stories like this, at least there’s something good that’s come out of it. Even if it isn’t the most romantic gesture we’ve ever seen. But hey, at least the story about how their marriage came to be will be interesting.
