The Tales Of series has had quite the year. 10 months in, Bandai Namco have announced a variety of new things for the series future, such as a brand new mobile game, as well as a remaster of a fan-favorite Tales game, Tales of Vesperia. It’s been such a great news for Tales Of fans that I’m hesitant to announce that Tales of remasters and remakes have the potential to exist. That is, if fans request them.
In an article with Famitsu (via Gematsu), God Eater producer Yusuke Tomizawa (who has recently stepped in to manage future Tales Of games) revealed that Bandai Namco was planning “Tales of series remasters and remakes based on [fan] requests”. This is the one detail that, of course, will have many Tales of fans salivating as they wonder what games may be making another appearance sometime soon.
Unfortunately, Tomizawa-san didn’t give much information on which Tales game would be the first on their list after Tales of Vesperia’s remaster. Nonetheless, if we were to speculate then we may first look to titles that, like Vesperia, have a huge or loyal fanbase.
Surprisingly, despite how much it seems to be loathed on social media, Tales of Zestiria seems to be one of those games that have a tight-knit community who love it a lot. And while it indeed came out on PC, PS3 and PS4, a Switch remaster may be enough to draw in more fans who haven’t given the game a try.
But if not Tales of Zestiria, then perhaps Tales of the Abyss? Tales of the Abyss has been out on Nintendo DS, PS2 and PC and not only has a loyal fanbase but a huge one too. After all, it’s hard to go a Tales of Festival without running into one Luke cosplayer.
We could speculate what games will be remastered and remade all day, but sadly have no real solid information about it. Please check in on VGR again for more Tales of and Bandai Namco news.
