Cyberpunk 2077 will feature on the cover of the upcoming November issue of Edge; a UK-based gaming magazine. As the cover story, the magazine will include several interviews and additional content about the game. Since the release of the cover, details of those interviews have begun to emerge online. One thing mentioned in particular is that the choices players make in the Cyberpunk 2077 character creation process will unlock different side-quests.
Cyberpunk 2077 Character Creation and its Impact on the Story
Among the details which will feature in Edge are that Cyberpunk 2077 includes an entirely new animation system. In addition, a producer for the game gave an interview where he explained what he believes have been the secrets to CD Projekt Red’s success.
The Cyberpunk 2077 character creation process is known to be very detailed. Players will be able to determine V’s physical attributes, but will also be able to make a number of choices to determine V’s backstory. One detail which has emerged from Edge is that these decisions are not simply cosmetic. The choices made for backstory and other elements will have a direct effect on gameplay. Namely, each choice will cause different side-quests related to that backstory to become available during the game. No specific examples appear in the interview. However, fans can assume that the intention is to flesh out the character of V and engage them with the setting of Night City.
These side-quests won’t merely be fifteen-minute outings, either. In fact, no side-quests in Cyberpunk 2077 will be. According to a developer who spoke with Edge; “We want to make sure that all of them are up to the standards of the main quest – that there’s nothing that feels like filler, just something to do while waiting for the next quest, or to get more money to buy the next thing. We don’t really like to do that. We want to make sure that every quest feels like a complete story in and of itself.”
