Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Gets Its Own Alexa Skill

When Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launches next month, one of the very first decisions players will have to make is determining the gender of the game’s protagonist, and said protagonist will actually have a different name depending on which gender the player picks: Kassandra for female and Alexios for male. Now, if you looked at the name “Alexios” and thought it looked similar to “Alexa,” the name given to Amazon’s voice-based AI assistant, the below parody video shows that you and Ubisoft are clearly vibing on the same wavelengths.

Alexios is here to make your life easier.

In the below video, one fortunate (unfortunate?) family is given their very own Alexios personal assistant. Much like his Amazon-based counterpart, Alexios is able to provide useful information such as the current weather or traffic status, but he does so with a bit more….gravitas than what Alexa can conjure up. Alexios also comes with an alarm function that’s guaranteed to get you up at the designated time, and he’s also apparently not a big fan of foul language.

The video also reveals that Alexios is in fact a real skill called the Spartan that Amazon Echo users can download and utilize. With the Spartan skill, users can query Alexios with over 1,500 prompts that include practical functions, like adding events to your calendar, or colorful remarks (Alexios’ favorite drink is apparently a tie between the blood of his enemies and a raspberry mojito).

You can also get your hands on that snazzy Spartan-themed Amazon Echo seen in the video as well, though for now the only way to do so is by entering a special contest which Ubisoft is now hosting. Rules on the contest and how to enter can be found here.

The Alexios assistant isn’t the only fun real-life tie in that Ubisoft is making for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as an upcoming launch event in Sydney, Australia will feature an entire Odyssey-themed outdoor obstacle course. As for Odyssey itself, be sure to check out what’s included in its $40 season pass.
