If you were looking forward to spending all weekend with PUBG’s limited-time only event War Mode, your time has just been cut short, unfortunately. PUBG Corp. took to Twitter today to announced that the new event has been taken offline, as it was pushing a glut of server issues that required emergency maintenance to resolve. It was barely online for an entire day before it needed to be taken down, but it had to be done, according to PUBG Corp., if things were going to get back to any semblance of normalcy anytime soon.
Not long after the game mode went live, PUBG’s servers started having problems last night. PUBG Corp. took swift action to take the entire game offline for an hour for a period of emergency maintenance. It was then that it was discovered that the instability was being caused by War Mode. From there, the event was simply ended for the foreseeable future, with no reinstatement date in sight just yet. PUBG Corp. states that engineers are working to make sure this doesn’t happen again, but that’s little consolation to those who were looking forward to testing out this beloved game mode again.

War Mode would have taken place on the Miramar map with the name Desert Knights this time around, pitting 10 teams of five players against each other with a goal of reaching 200 points for victory over the others. It would have lasted until May 6, though now that dream seems to have faded. Luckily, there’s still plenty of fun new stuff to check out, the result of PUBG’s latest update, which brought a new vehicle in the form of the Mirado, the SLR weapon, and various other alterations to the game.
As soon as we have some semblance of when we can expect the servers to come back, we’ll make sure we update you.
