Bethesda Releases the Fallout 76 In-Engine Intro and Beta Start Date

Just a couple of days ago, Pete Hines hinted that news of the Fallout 76 Beta could be released before the end of the week. It now seems that he was right; Bethesda has announced the launch date of the upcoming Beta. In addition, the studio accompanied the announcement with the in-engine intro from the start of the game.

The Fallout 76 Beta and In-Engine Intro

As Bethesda has stated previously, the Fallout 76 Beta will be starting one week earlier on Xbox One than on other platforms. The Beta will begin on the 23rd of October for Xbox One, and the 30th of October for other platforms. Of course, the only way to get access to the Fallout 76 Beta is to have already pre-ordered the game. Doing so will get players an access code for the Beta. The announcement doesn’t detail how long the Beta will last. However, given that the Beta is occurring just a few weeks before the game’s launch in November, it seems likely that it will be relatively short.

The Fallout 76 Beta Will Start in Late October

Some of the intro which Bethesda released alongside the announcement has already appeared in trailers. However, it is still fans’ first look at the full intro as it will appear in-game. Indeed, it will presumably be the first thing that Beta participants watch when they start a new game. Worth noting is that the intro places a heavy emphasis on people. Of course, there won’t be any human NPCs in the game. All of the game’s humans will be other players. As such, players probably won’t be seeing quite so many humans when they do actually take their first steps into Appalachia.

Bethesda revealed the name of their West Virginian setting last week. Appalachia is set to be a very different sort of wasteland than previous Fallout settings. It certainly promises to be more verdant, and boasts a wide selection of new fauna and flora.
