We’ve all been waiting patiently for Playstation Experience 2018 to be announced in order to find out more about our most anticipated Playstation 4 exclusives for next year. Seems though as Sony has different plans than us since they won’t be holding the event this year and their reasoning is simple.
Sony Interactive Chairman Executive and World Wide Chairman, Shawn Layden has talked during Playstation Blogcast 308 about the fact that there will be no Playstation Experience 2018. There’s no scheme or ultimate goal for this decision. Sony has nothing huge to announce at this point and doesn’t want to over-promise. He expressed his opinion on the matter:
The reasons behind that really are we don’t have. We have a lot of progress that we’re making on our games and now that we have Spider-Man out the door, we’re looking down into 2019 to games like Dreams and Days Gone. But we wouldn’t have enough to bring people all together in some location in North America to have that event. We don’t want to set expectations really high and then not deliver on it. It was a hard decision, but we have determined that this year we will not hold PlayStation Experience.
It’s true that Sony should slow down for a bit. Over the past year, they released two of the best games we’ve played and announced more to come in the following years. Fans were skeptic when Sony didn’t have anything major to announce during E3 2018 or Gamescom but that’s not something to worry about.
At this point, the company doesn’t need any huge conference and long announcements and trailers to point out that they’re owning the competition. Death Stranding, Days Gone, The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima will do the talking when the time is right. All we have to do is be patient, so don’t get to disappointed by this turn of events.
