Death March Club Announced, Is the Final Death Game From Danganronpa and Zero Escape Creators

Too Kyo Games has announced Death March Club, a death for kids, that will release in 2020. As of right now, the game will only be heading to PC with no other platforms mentioned. The project is the first of the four announced projects to get a release window. It’s also notable for being the “last” death game from the creators of the Danganronpa and Zero Escape series.

Death March Club features a death game that is made up of only 12-year-olds. It is defined as a game for kids, by kids, and with kids. This alludes to it targeting a wider audience, children included, but it’s actually for adults. Surprisingly, the title embraces that controversy and even promotes it. In it, you play as the elementary school student Reicho.

As Reicho, you will have to switch between two different gameplay segments: adventure and action parts. The action sections are being co-developed by Grounding, creators of the Crimson Dragon Xbox One title. They will play out from a side-scrolling perspective. As for the story, it is being handled by the Danganronpa and Zero Escape creators together.

This was all revealed in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu. The issue included quotes from Too Kyo Games regarding Death March Club. According to the interview, Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka was completely done with death games. However, Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi convinced him to develop one more.

Thus, the two promised that this would be the “last” death game that they will work on. That is unfortunate given that both creators became known for their work writing excellent and thought-provoking death games. Too Kyo Games hopes to release a demo in the near future for the action parts. This is to test it out and get fan feedback so stay tuned for more info about it soon.
