PSN Name Changes Look to Be Finally Arriving on PS4 Soon, According to Developers

It looks like PSN name changes are on the way very soon. According to a few developers in the industry, PS4 players will soon be able to change their online usernames in the near future. This means that you will be able to change from or to those infamous usernames like _Blaze4204eva. This is an option that fans have been clamoring for a long time and it’s almost here.

Kotaku spoke recently with three different people at three development studios in the industry who work on multiplayer games. All three of them who seem unrelated revealed that they have been preparing in recent months for the PSN name changes. These sources reportedly have been taking care of bugs and other issues in order to make sure their game is compatible.

In addition, a fourth source gave even more evidence of PSN name changes. A photo was reportedly shared that showed off someone’s username with the option “edit username” included. All of these reports show signs of the feature coming soon. Considering that developers have to change things in their games for it, it could be still some time before an announcement.

Speaking of announcements regardingĀ PSN name changes, Sony recently decided to not do PSX this year. That is interesting considering that Sony’s Shawn Layden spoke with Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller about the subject last year. In the interview, Layden noted that he hoped no one would have to ask him about name changes at PSX 2018.

With PSX 2018 not happening, he will definitely not have to worry about that. On the bright side, Kinda Funny is hosting a separate event in place of PSX. The event is called the Kinda Funny Games Showcase and will be hosted the Saturday after The Game Awards. For more info on that, check this post out.
