If today’s announcement that Thanos would be coming to Fortnite got you wondering about any future superhero skins, we regret to inform you that you probably won’t be seeing them, though that’s not any reason to get disappointed. It should still be very clear that Season 4 is still based on superheroes, without official Marvel intervention. Earlier today Epic Games has confirmed that, at present, there are no plans for Avengers outfits coming to the in-game store. As disappointing as that sounds, it looks to be the truth for now. But don’t forget about the extra secrets that have yet to be unlocked throughout Season 4.
“[J]ust because I’ve seen lots of folks asking, we have no plans for Avengers outfits in the store,” community manager at Epic Games JustMooney1 wrote earlier today, in case you missed it. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there can’t be outfits coming to the store at a later date, but they’re not coming at this time. But the fact that there is a collaboration at all is still good news. We already know that the team at Epic Games are Marvel fans, and vice versa. So don’t let this news get you down, Avengers and superhero faithful.
There are still plenty of clues that we’re in for a whole new world of superhero-themed content, however, so just because there isn’t much to look forward to by way of Marvel-themed skins, you can’t discount the other hints all over the map that something much, much bigger than Thanos is coming. For example, It looks like we might be seeing a season-long transformation of the Moisty Mire area, for instance, into something way different than it’s already been poised to act as.
There are also a smattering of superhero and supervillain lairs set around the map, each with their own briefing rooms within them. We don’t know why they’re there or what they’re for, but we can expect that to change in the coming weeks, either with some sort of holographic imagery or perhaps additional characters making appearances. And don’t forget the superhero-tinged teases we were seeing ahead of the official meteor crashes before Season 4 began. Sure, we got those skins to buy in the store, but what else do they mean, and why?
The new limited-time Infinity Gauntlet Mashup mode will be available tomorrow, May 8, and will play out like a regular match of Battle Royale, except for the addition of the Infinity Gauntlet and the ability for players to wreak havoc all over the map as the Avengers villain himself. There’s also still more to come in terms of game updates, as we just kicked off Season 4, and we’re barely into it just yet. Epic Games will always ensure we have plenty to look forward to, and who knows? This could be some classic misdirection, after all.
