In recent weeks, DICE has been very active in giving fans information about what Battlefield 5 will be like when it releases in November. The studio has gone into considerable detail to explain the changes being made following the Open Beta. Most recently, DICE even released a complete list of every vehicle, weapon, gadget, etc. which will feature in the game at launch. Now, the studio has laid out their plans to increase the amount of vehicles on the Battlefield 5 maps.
DICE’s Plans to Put More Vehicles in the Battlefield 5 Maps
The update about vehicle numbers came via one of DICE’s weekly Reddit debriefs. The full post goes into impressive detail just about what the studio has done in the last week. However, the section to note is comes from David Sirland, the game’s Multiplayer Producer; “We are making a push to expand the number of vehicles we can cram into a large map,” he says; “we want more! We’ll see where we end up for launch, and how far we can improve that post.”
At present, the only indication of how many vehicles might spawn on one of the Battlefield 5 maps comes from players’ experiences in the Open Beta. That event only featured a couple of the game’s maps, and they were reportedly not the largest of them. Indeed, the game’s upcoming Firestorm battle royale mode is said to feature the largest map ever in a Battlefield game, and it includes vehicles. Sirland also explained what DICE’s goals for vehicles were in Battlefield 5, stating that they should reward; “skilled play, tactics, and strategies”. More specifically, he explains that players should look to combine both infantry tactics with vehicle use, rather than relying solely on one or the other.
“Battlefield has always been about the full sandbox of war,” explains Sirland; “That includes both infantry and vehicles to the largest extent we can muster. We do have to limit this per mode/map, but it’s always a goal to include more if possible. The best way to utilise the full spectrum if to play together as a squad, and a team. Help your vehicles excel, and they will help you win, and vice versa.”
