When I woke up today, I didn’t quite believe I’d be telling you all about a song called ‘Goku’ from Jaden Smith. But here we are, so buckle in folks because you’re going to be in for a bumpy, Dragon Ball ride. As you may know, Goku has been kicking around in Bandai Namco games for a while now. But now it seems Goku will have a special appearance from now on: in Jaden Smith’s songs.
Jaden Smith, the young talent behind Netflix’s anime series Neo Yukio, has often been the butt of social media’s jokes. But that hasn’t stopped him, and nor should it, because now he’s channeling his talent to create music. Unfortunately, that means creating songs about Goku that actually has nothing to do with the man himself, or Dragon Ball.
Trust me, reader, I’m gutted too. How will I perform my Dragon Ball-related workouts now?
Regardless, the reason why many believe the song has something to do with Goku is, well, the title. But in reality, Smith only mentions that sometimes he ‘feels like Goku’. While I’m sure we can all relate to feeling like Goku at times, the lack of explanation is enough to make anyone wonder what this could possibly mean.
Jaden Smith’s Goku Song
Of course, if you think that the Dragon Ball community took offense to Smith’s song, then think again. One commenter on the official YouTube video simply stated what we were all thinking: Someone make a DBZ AMV with this song already. Wiser words were never spoken.
That said, for those who actually want to see some actual ‘Goku’ in their media, then now is the time to check out Dragon Ball Fighterz. Dragon Ball Fighterz was recently released on the Nintendo Switch and is already doing well on the system.
Perhaps Jaden Smith will write to Bandai Namco, and ask to have his song included in the game? I know I’d buy it.
