Treyarch has released yet another game update for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 as of October 23. Patch notes for the October 23 update aren’t available yet, but the update makes one noticeable improvement. Black Ops 4 players can now utilize a new Mercenary Capture Moshpit playlist.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Mercenary Playlist
For those who don’t know, a ‘Mercenary’ playlist in Call of Duty has a very specific meaning. Mercenary playlists don’t allow for pre-made parties, ensuring that all participating players are solo-queued. If you’re tired of queuing for a match and getting stomped by a pre-made team, Mercenary is for you.
Black Ops 4’s new Mercenary playlist specifically focuses on capture game types. The playlist cycles through the game’s three capture-based modes (Domination, Hardpoint, and Control) while enforcing the no pre-made parties parameter. Solo players have been requesting a Mercenary playlist for Black Ops 4 and Treyarch has finally delivered.
Mercenary Capture Moshpit is a featured playlist which means it likely won’t be a permanent addition. Treyarch hasn’t announced any plans for a permanent Mercenary playlist so solo players should enjoy it while they can. Players are speculating the playlist will last for two weeks (the usual time period for featured playlists). However, if Mercenary Capture Moshpit proves to be popular enough, it could become a permanent fixture. Fans are also already requesting Mercenary playlists for other game modes such as Team Deathmatch.
Treyarch has been working hard to shore up Black Ops 4’s performance, though other issues still persist. The game’s performance is slowly reaching acceptable levels, and a Mercenary playlist is another step in the right direction.
As of this writing the Mercenary Capture Moshpit playlist is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you don’t see it in your in-game menu, make sure you have the latest game update. Full patch notes for the October 23 update should be forthcoming.
