Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch in roughly 48 hours on Friday, October 26. However, reviews from major gaming publications will go up slightly before the game’s launch date. This will ensure that potential buyers know what critics think before Red Dead Redemption 2 launches in full.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Review Publishing Times
A press release from Rockstar has confirmed the review embargo for Red Dead Redemption 2 will lift early tomorrow morning. Specifically, the embargo ends at exactly 4:01 a.m. PST on Thursday, October 25. We’ve also included a few converted time zones below so you can determine when the embargo lifts in your neck of the woods:
- 7:01 a.m. EST
- 12:01 p.m. GMT
- 10:01 p.m. AEST
Expect reviews from major publications to start popping up shortly after the embargo time limit expires. Rockstar provided early copies to those publications to ensure their reviews would be ready to publish once the embargo lifts. Some publications might delay their reviews beyond the embargo lift so they can test Red Dead Redemption 2’s online features. Reviews will also naturally only cover the game’s single-player portion since Red Dead Online isn’t coming until next month. Specific publications may do separate reviews for Red Dead Online, or they could just update their existing reviews.
We’ll be playing Red Dead Redemption 2 as well so expect more coverage following the game’s launch on Friday. Unsurprisingly, Rockstar’s latest is a very big game so there will be a lot to talk about for sure. If you’re already committed to playing Red Dead Redemption 2, the game launches promptly at midnight tomorrow. Of course, if you don’t mind buying a physical copy, you can play a little earlier than that.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game’s online multiplayer component will get a public beta sometime next month.
