Red Dead Redemption 2: Hidden Weapons and How to Find Them

There are a lot of different weapons to find in Red Dead Redemption 2. Due to the nature of the game’s world, some weapons are harder to find than others. In some cases the weapon is so rare that there’s only a single version to be found. In this guide, we’ll show you how to locate and claim some of Red Dead Redemption 2’s rarest armaments.

How to Find Hidden Weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2

There are a lot of unique weapons to find in Red Dead Redemption 2.

How to Find Firearm Weapons  in Red Dead Redemption 2

Granger’s Revolver

Granger’s Revolver is tied to the Gunslinger mission ‘The Noblest of Men, and a Woman.’ As its name suggests, it’s the preferred weapon of Emmit Granger. Once you’ve examined his photo, you can find Granger at a pig farm to the east of Flatneck Station. Completing Granger’s tasks will unlock the option to challenge him to a duel. The reward for winning that duel is his signature revolver.

Flaco’s Revolver

Flaco’s Revolver is also tied to the Gunslinger mission track. After examining his photo, you’ll find Flaco Hernandez, or more specifically his corpse, up at Cairn Lake north of Valentine. Near his body, you’ll find Flaco’s signature revolver. While you’re at Cairn Lake, you can also begin the surprisingly lucrative Poisonous Trails side mission.

Midnight’s Pistol

Billy Midnight is yet another NPC attached to the Gunslinger mission track. After examining his photo, head over to Rhodes and speak with the post office clerk. You’ll learn that Midnight is about to board the train and you can follow him onboard. When you confront him, you’ll trigger a brief chase which ends in another duel. Win the duel and Midnight’s Pistol is yours.

Rare Shotgun

Despite its name, there are actually multiple locations where you can find the Rare Shotgun. The first is Hanging Dog Ranch which is north of Wallace Station. Head a little ways west of the ranch and you’ll encounter a cave hermit wielding the shotgun. The second location is Manito Glade which is north of Annesburg. Again, you’ll have to take the shotgun by force, this time from a hostile recluse who calls the glade home. This is a good weapon to track down if you’re already a fan of the Pump-Action Shotgun.

Civil War Knife

This mean-looking bowie knife is found in the abandoned Fort Brennand southwest of Van Horn. Specifically, the Civil War Knife is located in the fort’s basement.

Antler Knife

Head northwest from Hanging Dog Ranch and you’ll come across a curious sight. A hunter managed to kill a large bear, but in its death throes the bear crushed and killed the hunter. Search the bear’s corpse and you’ll find the hunter’s unique Antler Knife.

Broken Pirate Sword

Off the southwestern shore of Saint Denis is a small group of islands. If you look at your map, the islands are just north of the “Crawdad Willies” text. On one of those islands you’ll find a wrecked ship, and on the ship you’ll find a skeleton. Clutched in the skeleton’s hand is the Broken Pirate Sword.

Hewing Hatchet

You’ll find the Hewing Hatchet at Moonstone Pond which is in the northeastern quadrant of your map. For a more specific reference, the pond is just to the south of the map’s “Grizzlies East” text. The hatchet is located on a tree stump on the pond’s southern shore.

Rusted Double Bit Hatchet

If you explore the wilderness between O’Creagh’s Run and Elysium Pool, you’ll come across a small abandoned shack. Buried in a tree stump right outside the shack is the Rusted Double Bit Hatchet.

Viking Hatchet

Head northeast from Beaver Hollow and you’ll find another curious sight: an old Viking tomb. The Viking Hatchet is resting on a stone table outside the tomb.

Ancient Tomahawk

Travel east from the Wapiti Indian Reservation to reach the Calumet Ravine. On the eastern side of the ravine overlooking the river is a broken target. You’ll find the Ancient Tomahawk buried in that target.
