It’s been around two years since Rockstar Games first announced Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), the prequel to the widely acclaimed original Red Dead Redemption.
There have been a ton of starts and stops and delays since that announcement, with the probable release date of the game being pushed further and further away. But now at last we have an official Red Dead Redemption 2 release date!
When Will RDR2 Release?
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th, 2018, and will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Regarding all the delays, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained that the team didn’t want to rush the development of the game, and only wanted to release it when it reached “that apex of effort and perfection.” No further delays are expected. Zelnick has emphasized that “I am confident that will be the release date. We are incredibly excited about it.”
What else do we know about the game at this point? Like the original, RDR2 will take place in an open world Western setting. The protagonist is an outlaw named Arthur Morgan, who belongs to the Van der Linde gang. Both single player and multiplayer modes will be included, and the game will be played from a third-personal point of view.
As we get closer to the October release date, we can expect a lot more news about Red Dead Redemption 2. So keep checking back with us for updates. Also make sure you pre-order RDR2 so that you can pick up your copy or download it on the day that it is released.
