Curse of the Vampire Coast, the next upcoming DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2, is now less than a week away from release. As we draw nearer to the DLC’s release date, Creative Assembly has released a new Let’s Play video on YouTube. Edited in a similar fashion to other roughly 10-minute videos which the studio have released before to highlight new content and factions, the video showcases just over 10 minutes of Vampire Coast campaign gameplay.
New Curse of the Vampire Coast Campaign Gameplay
The campaign gameplay footage gives players a look at what the new Vampire Coast faction campaign will be like. Of course, while there are similar campaign elements across all of the Vampire Coast lords, each Legendary Lord will have a different starting location and slightly different objectives and stories. The footage shown here features a faction led by the Arch Grand Commodore himself, Luthor Harkon.
The new footage shows off several new gameplay mechanics coming to Total War: Warhammer 2 with Curse of the Vampire Coast. Infamy is a major new mechanic for the Vampire Coast, as are the Pieces of Eight. The footage showed the establishment of a Pirate Cove, a new kind of settlement unique to the Vampire Coast faction. The video doesn’t delve too deeply into the new army stance or Sea Shanties, however. Nonetheless, it did illustrate clearly that the Vampire Coast is unlike any other faction in Total War: Warhammer 2.
The video also delved a little into the story of Luthor Harkon himself. According to the game, Harkon will be able to restore his fractured mind by recovering a number of Lizardmen artefacts. Harkon is also apparently seeking to slay a massive sea monster; the very same monster which appears in the closing seconds of the DLC’s recent trailer. To slay this colossal “Merwyrm,” Harkon seems to need to assemble a special harpoon or bolt thrower capable of harming it.
