Long-time fans of the Battlefield series may notice something when it comes to Battlefield 5 ammo when the game releases next week. Namely, that they don’t have very much! Following the game’s open beta, DICE made changes to the new “Attrition” system, reducing the amount of starting ammo and resources players get in matches. As a result, knowing how to stock up is vital information to succeed in Battlefield 5.
The Best Places to Find Ammo in Battlefield 5
In an effort to make players more active and less static in Battlefield 5, DICE has intentionally reduced the amount of ammo everybody starts with. They’ve also reduced the amount of other resources, like medic pouches and so forth. As a result, players will need to stay mobile to seek out fresh sources of ammunition. Otherwise, you risk running out. Before we get onto the best places to stock back up, however; it’s worth noting that the best strategy is simply to shoot conservatively; don’t waste bullets, choose the best moments to open fire, etc. The more wasteful you are with your ammo, the more often you’ll be scrambling for a resupply.
The most widespread source of ammunition is, of course, your fallen opponents. If you can, make sure to grab ammunition from anybody you kill. In close quarters, urban maps, this is much easier to do, of course. However, on the larger maps like Hamada and Twisted Steel, you may not always be able to reach the bodies of those you shoot. As such, there are a few other ways to keep your Battlefield 5 ammo topped up.
The Support class carries Ammo Pouches or Ammo Crates which can be given out to players, offering extra magazines and bullets. Be sure to have a Support in your squad, and make sure to go to them when you need ammo. Additionally, one part of the new Fortifications system is the Resupply Station. These can be built in certain spots around each map, and you can go to these to stock up your ammunition. Learn where they are, and aim to build them whenever you get the opportunity. Finally, Supply Drops can also be called in as one of the game’s Reinforcements, delivering an air-dropped cache of ammunition and resources.
