Unlike many bugs found in Fallout 76, such as the one which turns players into elongated abominations, the latest one to be discovered actually gives players something rather beneficial. Of course, it does so by breaking the game in a way that was clearly unintentional. The issue appears to be with armour which features the “Pocketed” upgrade.
How a New Fallout 76 Bug Will Give You Unlimited Carrying Capacity
Players have begun to spot and share how to exploit this bug online today. However, it’s possible that it has always existed until now; after all, the conditions for triggering the bug are very specific. One account was posted on Reddit a few hours ago. It’s unknown if this bug exists in all versions of Fallout 76, or whether only certain players are able to exploit it. I was able to cause the same results when I tested it for myself in the game, suggesting that the former is the case.
To exploit the bug, you’ll need a piece of armour in your inventory with the “Pocketed” upgrade. Players have reported the bug using different armour pieces and armour types; the “Pocketed” feature appears to be the only consistent part. If you very rapidly equip and un-equip the armour in your inventory, it will cause your carrying capacity to gradually decrease. Do this enough, and your carrying capacity will eventually pass into negative figures. At that point, the game no longer recognises the figure properly, and you essentially have unlimited carrying capacity.
Your carrying capacity seems to reset if you leave the game server, so it isn’t persistent. Nonetheless, it can give players an extremely useful advantage while playing; one which clearly shouldn’t exist in the game. Hopefully, Bethesda will address the problem now that it has been found. Although there have been rather a lot of Fallout 76 bugs found, both during the BETA and since launch, the studio hasĀ certainly been proactive in addressing them. The latest update for the game went live today and is almost 50 GB in size.
