Next Battlefield 5 Patch Will Let Machine Gunners Duck

Battlefield 5 officially released on the 20th of November, and fans don’t have to wait long at all before the next major content update; the first chapter of the Tides of War post-launch content schedule is due to release on the 4th of December. However, in the meanwhile DICE is working on fixes for a number of bugs and also adjustments to the game as a result of player feedback. One change concerning machine guns, which was recently confirmed by the studio, will come in an upcoming patch.

Next Battlefield 5 Patch Will Add a Great Feature for Players Who Like Machine Guns

When a fan on Reddit asked whether the top gunner in Battlefield 5 vehicles could have a duck option, an account affiliated with DICE confirmed that it would be coming in the next patch. At present, top gunners in the game’s tanks are often sitting ducks against enemy gunfire; hardly ideal when their primary role is in keeping enemy soldiers from getting too close. The main problem is that once you take a position as a top gunner, there is no way for you to take cover.

Battlefield 5 Top Gunners Will Get a Means to Take Cover

While it’s unknown exactly what form the new feature will take, it sounds as though players will simply be able to duck while acting as the top gunner for a vehicle. This would enable top gunners to take cover at will from incoming fire, ensuring that they aren’t as vulnerable to sniper fire or automatic weapons fire from approaching soldiers.

It’s unknown exactly when the next patch will release. There is a large game update due to launch on the 4th of December, alongside the first Tides of War chapter. As such, with just a couple of weeks to go before that date, it could launch then. Alternatively, it could launch as part of a smaller patch ahead of the start of Tides of War.
