How to Find the Valkyries’ Hidden Chambers in God of War

God of War has many different bosses, but the nine Valkyries are probably the most fearsome. These nine post-story bosses are scattered across the game’s world. Defeating each of them is a challenge unto itself, but merely finding and opening their Hidden Chambers is not exactly easy.

You will come across the first of the six Hidden Chambers relatively early in the game (the final three Valkyries have specific requirements that must be met, rather than hidden arenas). In God of War’s first area, the Wildwoods, you will find a door that is sealed with a large, blue hexagon. When you first encounter this door, the game will likely tell you that you cannot access it yet. In fact, you will probably not return until after completing the main story. The ability to unlock these chambers, in fact, is granted to you during the course of the story. Once you have unlocked the ability, then you can start going after the Valkyries.

Where to Find the Hidden Chambers

Of the eight Valkyries, six are located inside Hidden Chambers. To find the other two, you must fulfill specific requirements of a different nature. The first four chambers can be found in Midgard, while the remaining two are in Helheim and Alfheim, respectively.

  • The Valkyrie Gunnr’s Hidden Chamber can be found inside Thamur’s Corpse in Midgard.
  • Kara’s Hidden Chamber is located midway between The River Pass and Foothills regions, south of the Lake of Nine in Midgard.
  • Geirdriful’s Hidden Chamber is relatively close to that of Kara; the Chamber is in the Foothills region of Midgard.
  • You can find the final Midgard Hidden Chamber just southeast of The Mountain region. This Chamber houses the Valkyrie Eir.
  • The Valkyrie Rota’s Chamber is located in the realm of Helheim, just north-east of the hub area.
  • Finally, Olrun’s Hidden Chamber can be found in Alfheim, north of the hub area and west of the great stone ring.

To find the seventh Valkyrie, named Gondul, you will need to complete a number of trials within the realm of Muspelheim. To access this optional realm, you will need to find all of the Muspelheim Ciphers in Midgard. The Valkyrie Hildr can be found in the other optional realm; Niflheim. Finding her chamber in the maze-like realm can be difficult, but directions can be found here.

Once you have defeated all eight of those Valkyries, then you can return to the Council of Valkyries in Midgard. By placing the helmets of the vanquished Valkyries on their thrones, you can open a path to the ninth boss; Sigrun. This fearsome foe is quite possibly the most challenging opponent in God of War.
