Black Ops 4 Leaderboards Might Never Come, Here’s Why

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is missing one pretty important element. Although fans have been waiting for Black Ops 4 Leaderboards to become a reality and get added in the game after its release, it might not happen. That’s t least what the Treyarch Studio Design Director has revealed.

According to Treyarch Studio Design Director David Vonderhaal, the global Black Ops 4 Leaderboards are just stats. Additionally, he reveals he believes that it’s more of an indication of how much free time someone has. However, there are other ways to check out your ranking.

David Vonderhaal explains why there are no Black Ops 4 Leaderboards

Taking the matter to Twitter, Treyarch Studio Design Director David Vonderhaal talked about the Black Ops 4 Leaderboards.

Here’s what he said about the matter:

Not sure. Would have to talk to the systems lead and see where he is at with this one. At the time, many moons ago during the design phase, we made a decision to NOT do it for a few reasons (social, performance, others.) Things may have changed since then, however.

You’ll certainly have a clear indicator of rank from the competition and esports features / events. Leaderboards are “just” stats and anyone who can play a lot to have high stats is not necessarily better, (s)he just has more free time.

You can see from his answer that nothing is set in stone yet. It’s true that the leaderboards mostly show statistics that represent the time you’ve spend in a game. With that being said, Treyarch could invent a new way of ranking players on a leaderboard. Or, they could eliminate it altogether. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 ranking system is already good as it is and since players aren’t nagging, there might not be a reason to include a leaderboard.

For what it’s worth, we might see Black Ops 4 Leaderboards getting added in the game in the future. For the time being, be ready to experience other installments in it since this one is not a priority.
