The Fallout 76 Lost and Found drop quest is highly unusual among the game’s many quests in that it is also repeatable. While drop quests always contain some random element, Lost and Found has several. As a result, finding and completing this quest can be quite different every time. To have the best chance of finding the triggering item, you’ll need to find and kill mole miners.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 Lost and Found Drop Quest
Unlike almost every other quest in Fallout 76, there is no guaranteed way to find this quest. To start the Fallout 76 Lost and Found drop quest, you need to find a “Miner’s Key”; this item can be found in the inventory of a dead mole miner. However, it is completely random whether a mole miner will have the key or not. Moreover, the chance applies to every mole miner in the game. As such, you’re much more likely to stumble upon this quest accidentally as you play through the game. If you haven’t done so and you want to seek it out yourself, then the best thing to do is simply fight and kill mole miners.
Mole Miners, as their name suggests, can be found in almost every location in Fallout 76 which includes the word “Mine” in its name. The best region overall is Ash Heap, as there are more mines and similar locations where they can be found. When you do find the Miner’s Key, another random element comes into play.
The key will unlock a supply locker. However, the location of that locker is, once again, random. In fact, the locker can appear almost anywhere in West Virginia. As a result, you could end up being sent far across the map from where you found the key. When you find it, you can unlock and loot it to complete the quest. The locker will contain a mix of random junk items, ammo, and aid items. Once you complete the quest, the chance to find a Miner’s Key actually resets, making the quest repeatable.
