Street Fighter V Arcade Edition Welcomes Kage to the Roster

A season of Competitive Street Fighter V Arcade Edition has ended and another one is coming. After this year’s Capcom Cup, the executive producer of the game Yoshinori Ono unveiled a new combatant which will join the roster today. This new fighter is called Kage, the embodiment of the “Satsui No Hado”.

Kage will be available for purchase today for $5.99 USD on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One. However, a player can also acquire this character by spending 100,000 Fight Money. To celebrate the occasion, Capcom has also released a Trailer for the fighter.  The trailer showcases Kage’s moveset and V-Trigger powers.

Kage, meaning “shadow,” is the physical embodiment of the evil spirit “Satsui no Hado” that could hypothetically overtake Ryu and turn him into the character Evil Ryu. Canonically, Ryu is able to suppress the “Satsui no Hado” in Street Fighter V’s Story Mode. But now, this entity gained its own physical form and is now looking for strong warriors to take on.

Kage’s moveset and V-Trigger attacks seem to be rather flexible for combo strings. Kage also has some supers that seem to pack quite a punch. With a rather flashy variation of Ryu’s Shin Shoryuken technique appropriately called Hado Shoryuken, Kage looks like a very good pick for fighters who long for a character similar to Evil Ryu.

Also going live today, a downloadable update for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will bring balance changes for the rest of the 32 characters. This update will also benefit five of the characters  (F.A.N.G, Vega, Chun-Li, Abigail, and M. Bison) as they will receive brand new moves to enhance their playstyle.

In addition to the updates to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom announced that the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT), the company’s premier league for Street Fighter esports, will be returning for a 2019 season, with the first premier scheduled to take place at Final Round on March 15, 2019.

A few months ago, Street Fighter V also saw the return of Sagat alongside the self-proclaimed “President of the World” G. However, things are gearing up big time for the upcoming CPT Season as well. Who do you think will rise up victorious in the coming days? Are you going to main Kage in Street Fighter V?
