FIFA 19 Face Update: Dortmund’s Axel Witsel Asks EA To ‘Fix His Face’ After TOTW Nod
Most of today’s sports games feature close likenesses of the star athletes and players in them. However, from time to time fans will tell the game developers to give a certain player a required makeover. Recently, one of the actual players requested a FIFA 19 face update from EA Sports, though. That player is Axel Witsel as seen in the image above from the FIFA 19 game.
Axel Witsel wants a FIFA 19 face update
Witsel currently represents the Borussia Dortmund club in football. He and his team were preparing for a big matchup with Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday. As seen in the tweet below, Witsel mentioned he is focused on bouncing back for the latest matchup. That’s because Dortmund fell 2-1 to Fortuna this past Tuesday.

Before that tweet came out Friday, Witsel also tweeted to the EA Sports developers about a FIFA 19 face update. Due to his great performance in games the previous week, Witsel earned FIFA 19 Team of the Week. Joining him on the squad were other star players including Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.
Witsel was appreciative of the nod but noted that his playable FIFA character could use some work. According to a report Friday via Sport Bible, Witsel wrote: “Thanks but can we fix my in game face first?” It’s clearly on his mind to look like himself in the game.
It isn’t surprising that the EA developers took note of Witsel’s request for a FIFA 19 face update. They replied to Witsel saying “We will try our best.” Meanwhile, their rivals, Pro Evolution Soccer, already have a spot on likeness of Witzel’s face in their game, as seen in the screenshot below.
In a previous FIFA 19 update, they brought new player looks into the game. The developers regularly update faces in games, so that seems to be good news for Witsel. He’s certainly not the first in-game athlete or performer to complain about his likeness and probably won’t be the last either. However, with how realistic games are looking these days, it makes perfect sense they’d want to look just right!
