When it comes to the Madden 19 passing game, quarterbacks have a number of different plays they can make. That includes the popular Hail Mary pass that some QBs lob towards the end zone hoping for a miracle touchdown catch. Another miracle type of play involves the lateral pass, which isn’t necessarily a quarterback option, but one you can use with the ball carrier. This is a risky move in real NFL games and also in the video game. However, for those who want to achieve it, here’s how to lateral the ball in the Madden 19 game.
Madden 19 passing: How to lateral the ball in Madden 19
You don’t need to be Patrick Mahomes or Drew Brees to use the lateral in Madden 19. The lateral pass is a play where any ball carrier can toss the ball to a teammate who is to the side and behind them on the field. These are seen most often at the end of a game as a team has very little or no time left on the clock and needs a touchdown to tie or win. However, they may also work in other situations, as long as you keep the risk factor in mind.
To execute a lateral pass in Madden 19, Sony PlayStation 4 gamers will need to press the L1 button. On the Xbox One controller, gamers should press LB. You’ll see a line from your ball carrier to the nearest teammate you can lateral to. This will allow you to toss the ball to the teammate in an effort to gain more yards. In some cases, you might even try to explode downfield to get that needed touchdown.
The lateral is one of those plays that is rarely seen. It involves the risk of losing yards or even turning over the ball if something is messed up. However, if executed correctly, it just might make a difference in getting a surprising win in Madden 19.
The first 10 seconds of the video below shows off the New England Patriots’ Chris Hogan tossing a lateral to his teammate in order to score a touchdown before halftime.
