Dragon’s Dogma is Coming to the Nintendo Switch in April

Capcom has announced an upcoming Nintendo Switch version of its 2013 action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma complete with the Dark Arisen expansion. The Switch port of the acclaimed fantasy RPG title arrives on April 23 of this year.

According to a fact sheet from Capcom, the Switch version of Dragon’s Dogma comes with all previously released DLC. Said DLC includes the sizeable Dark Arisen expansion which adds new areas, enemy types, and equipment into the base game.

The Switch port also naturally comes with the unique Pawns system which allows players to create their own NPC companions. These companions can be customized to augment the player’s preferred playstyle as well as shared with other online players. Players can also recruit other Pawns to form adventuring parties as they explore Dragon’s Dogma’s massive fantasy world.

Aside from the Pawn system, Dragon’s Dogma also has several unique combat mechanics. Players can naturally utilize melee, ranged, and magical attack options, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Using the game’s unique climbing mechanics, players can actually scale larger foes to attack their weak points. If a Gryphon is giving you trouble, just jump on its back and slash at its wings. And that lumbering Cyclops won’t look so menacing after you scale its flank and stab it right in the eye.

For those worrying about playing Dragon’s Dogma in handheld mode, fret not. The fact sheet also confirms an “adapted user interface” which offers improved screen visibility. This should address any potential UI or screen clutter issues players might otherwise encounter while playing on the go.

The Nintendo Switch version of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen launches on April 23 at a $29.99 price point.
