The Song of Memories Switch version is now officially canceled and not happening. This is surprising and unfortunate news given that the game is releasing next month. That’s right, even though the Switch version isn’t happening anymore, the PS4 version continues onward. The PlayStation 4 version of the upcoming visual novel is now set for a release date of February 1, 2019.
Both of these crazy announcements come from a press release from publisher PQube. It is a bittersweet set of news as, on the one hand, we now know the official worldwide release date. But, on the other hand, it comes with the unfortunate news that players won’t be able to check it out on Nintendo Switch.
Song of Memories Switch Cancellation Details

What’s more bizarre is that the Switch version isn’t delayed or anything like that but outright canceled entirely. In the official press release, publisher PQube notes that there are “development complications” for the game on Switch. Apparently, these complications are preventing Song of Memories Switch from reaching a functioning level of quality.
However, fans can at least look forward to the PS4 version in just a few short weeks. In addition, the Encore Edition is still happening for PlayStation 4. This special edition of the game bundles together the game, an exclusive art book, soundtrack collection, smartphone charm, and more all in a special box. It is available for pre-order right now.
Song of Memories is a popular visual novel that already released in Japan. It has six beautiful girls that you can romance in the game but hints at a twist on the standard visual novel formula. A darker, sinister storyline lies beneath the surface that forces you to protect the ones you love in this intense story. This author is looking forward to it but also sad about the Song of Memories Switch cancellation.
