God of War’s Lake of Nine is surrounded by towers, each one corresponding to one of the many different realms. Each is also well worth scouring for both loot and collectibles. While most of the towers are readily accessible as you paddle around the Lake of Nine, Asgard Tower is the exception.
When you first arrive at the Lake of Nine, Asgard Tower cannot be accessed. Although a lift is located near the base of the tower, it will not get you inside. In fact, you won’t be able to access this site until you lower the water level of the lake, later in the game. Even then, you have to take a slightly circuitous path from the Isle of Death.
How to Access Asgard Tower
Once you have lowered the water level of the Lake of Nine during the course of God of War’s story, return to the Isle of Death. There, you will find a newly revealed beach, down below where you will have first docked. A pair of Revenants will be lurking on the beach, and could pose quite a challenge, depending on your level. Try to avoid taking both on at the same time. Once you’ve dealt with them, make your way inland and look for a stone wall that you can climb.
At the top of the wall, continue on and jump over a gap in order to reach a cave entrance. Inside, head upward until you find a flag and a system of pulleys. Those pulleys will take you to Asgard Tower. First, hit the mechanism alongside the pulleys with Kratos’ axe, causing it to rotate. This should move a platform so that you can climb down a chain and board the machine. On the platform is a lever which raises it again. Repeat this process twice more, until you reach land again.
Follow the path on the far side of the pulley system until you reach Asgard Tower. There, you can use a lever to lower another platform. Now you will be able to access the tower from the lake.
Inside Asgard Tower
Unlike Helheim Tower, Asgard Tower isn’t a place that you should seek out early in the game. At the top of the tower is a solitary Traveler, and it is level 7. Note that if you die fighting the Traveler, you will respawn at the base of the tower, forcing you to call the platform back down each time. If you can defeat this foe, however, you will be able to decipher a Niflheim Text on the braziers, provided you have all the Niflheim language pieces.
