The barriers that keep gamers between platforms separated are shattering more and more. After so long, players are closer to being able to enjoy games together regardless of which platform they play in. One of the games that demonstrates this is Rocket League, which recently added Cross-Play support for PlayStation 4.
Rocket League Gets Cross-Play Support for PlayStation 4
The announcement was made over at the Rocket League official website and on the PlayStation Blog. Psyonix revealed that PS4 players will join the cross-play beta program. As such, players will be able to interact with owners of the Switch, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game. Private matches with players from other platforms are also available.
It’s important to mention that Cross-Play in Rocket League for PS4 players is nothing new. In fact, PS4 players could play games with PC players before. However, this is the first time PS4 players will be able to interact with players from other consoles.
Psyonix also announced that they will continue to work on the cross-platform party system and RocketID. The objective is to allow players to make parties with users from other platforms at the push of a few buttons. However, this system is still in development for the moment.
“Today’s announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix, because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time.” Said Psyonix on their blog. “It’s because of YOU, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place.”
