Battlefield 5 has now been out for a couple of months, and today marks the start of the game’s second chapter of post-launch content; Lightning Strikes. If you’re just getting into the game now, or looking to return with the start of Lightning Strikes, then there is a way for you to also get your friends into the game, even if they don’t own it themselves; the Origin Refer a Friend program, which was recently highlighted by DICE.
DICE Highlights the Origin Refer a Friend Program for Battlefield 5
Earlier today, DICE published a reminder to Origin Access members about the Origin Refer a Friend program, which may have gone overlooked by many. If you have Battlefield 5 and a subscription to Origin Access, then you can take advantage of this program to get free access to the game for your friends online. With new content arriving today for Battlefield 5, and the game at its best when you’re in a squad with your friends, now is a perfect time to make use of this scheme.

As an Origin Access member, you can invite up to four of your online friends with the program. This grants each person a free week of Origin Access Basic. Although this technically grants them a full seven days of the service, that doesn’t translate directly to Battlefield 5. What it will allow them to do is play the Battlefield 5 Play First Trial; available to all Origin Access members who don’t already own Battlefield 5. This trial allows players to play for 10 hours for free. In addition, anybody who then purchases Battlefield 5 will get a 10% member discount. All progress from the trial also carries over to the full game.
To invite friends through the Origin Refer a Friend program, simply go to the Origin Access main menu. (You can use this program regardless of whether you’re a Premier or Basic subscriber.) In the menu, you should find an invitation option, which redirects you to the Refer A Friend scheme page. Here, you can find the friends you want to invite and trigger an automatic email invitation. That friend can then activate the free week by clicking a link in the email. You can also create a URL invite to send through email, text, or IM.
Note that friends can’t benefit from this program if they’re already an Origin Access member (obviously), if they’ve used this free trial before in the last three months, if they’ve already played the Battlefield 5 Play First Trial, or if they live in one of three regions where the program is unavailable; Belgium, Brazil, and Spain.
